18 December 2013/Druk Air, The Royal Bhutan Airlines is proud to announce “3rd Druk Air Open Golf Tournament” in Kathmandu, Nepal. This tournament will be played at Gleneagles designed, Gokarna Golf Club on Saturday 21st December 2013.
The tournament will be an open Tournament and will be played over 18 holes, on a stableford format with ¾ handicap allowance. 90 -100 Golfers including 25 players from Bhutan will be in the fray for the tournament. On the sidelines of this tournament 25 players including a lady Golfers from Bhutan will play a friendly match against Royal Nepal Golf Club members on 19th December and another friendship match will be played between Gokarna Golf Club members on Sunday 22nd December 2013.
25 Golfers from Himalayan Kingdom has traveled just to play the tournament in Nepal and this event is aimed at promoting Golf tourism in Nepal. The condition of the golf course is superb as the greens are unpredictably fast. In the Open Championship there are prizes for; Winner, Runner-up; Ladies Winner, Ladies Runner up, Senior Winner (age 60 &above), Best Gross, Longest Drive, Closest to the pin and most birdies. Winners will also receive complimentary tickets from Druk Air.
Druk Air has been flying to Kathmandu since 1989 and has daily flights to Kathmandu. “We are pleased to have sponsored this event for 3rd consecutive year. This bilateral event provides platform for golfers to compete, as well as build friendship between the two nations. 25 Golfers from Bhutan are especially coming to take part in this tournament.
