Pilot Golfers NPGA ClassicJayaram extends lead after Day-II

Kathmandu, 21st March / Jayaram Shrestha has extended lead after the second day of Pilot Golfers NPGA Classic, the seventh event of Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2018-19. Jayaram carded two-under 70 today for a total of six-under 138 to take three-stroke lead over Bhuwan Kumar Rokka, who is at three-under 141.

Rokka played a round of one-under 71 today. Amateur Tanka is third at two-under 142, he carded another round of one-under 71 today.  Dhana Thapa and Rajendra Shrestha Pradhan are tied at fourth place with one-over 145, Shrestha carded even-par 72 and Thapa scored three-over 75 today.

Rame Magar (72) and Sanjay Lama (74) are tied for sixth at two-over 146. Deepak Acharya is eighth at three-over 147, he scored one-under 71 today. Shiva Ram Poudel (74) and Bikash Adhikari (75) are tied at ninth with the score of five-over 149.

Amateur Tashi Tshiring is nine-strokes behind Tanka at seven-over 151, he played three-over 75 today.

Jayaram had a flying start with three-straight birdies on the first three holes, then he added birdies on sixth and ninth holes for five-under 31 on the front nine. On the back nine, he made bogey on the 10th and double-bogey on the 14th hole for a three-over 39.

Rokka scored one-over 37 on the front nine with birdies on third and fourth holes against bogeys on first, fifth and eighth holes. On the back nine, he made birdies on 11th and 12th holes for a two-under 34.

Amateur Tanka scored one-over 37 on the front nine with birdie on the second hole against bogeys on eighth and ninth holes. On the back nine, he made birdies on 11th and 16th holes for two-under 34.

A total of 30 professional golfers and 8 amateurs are taking part in the tournament which has prize purse of Rs 450,000, the winner’s share is Rs 85,000, second place will get Rs 56,000 and third place will earn 37,000. 24 professionals and 6 amateurs made the cut for the final round to be played at par-68 Royal Nepal Golf Club.

Pilot Golfers Capt. Rabindra Purush Dhakal, Capt. Deepak Thapaliya and Capt. Vijay Pratap Singh. The event is a tribute to Capt. Badri K. Shrestha the first Nepali Airline pilot who lost his life while serving the nation. Mrs. Sabita Shrestha, daughter of Capt. Shrestha has joined the sponsor’s team for the betterment of the tournament. Gandaki Noodles, BB Airways, Air Arebia, and Himalayan Bank, co-sponsors of the tournament.
