Kathmandu – 05 October /Babu Sherpa accumulated 42 points to register victory at the Ballentine’s Open Golf Tournament here at Gokarna Golf Club. Playing with 13 handicap, Babu scored 23 points on the front nine and 19 on the second half. He received Trophy, Callaway Golf Watch and 17 years old Ballantine’s Whisky.
American Brian Fawcett, who was playing with 10 handicap brought a card of 39 stableford points to finish runner-up in the tournament.
Tashi Ghale, who scored one under gross also had 39 nett points took the best gross award. Tashi Tshiring was second on the best gross with two-over gross score.
Bhairaja Pandey was the best senior Golfer with 33 stableford points. Korean U Jin Kwan scored 28 points to win over Rekha Ghimire who scored 27 points. Tashi Ghale with five birdies also got the most birdies award, similarly Tashi Tshiring also won longest drive award. Biswo Bam Malla got the closest to the pin award.
Korean YD Kwon, made a hole in one on par 3 10th hole and received a special prize. The tournament sponsored by Pernod Ricard had 78 golfers, despite the continious rain all golfers completed the tournament played under stableford format with 3/4 handicap.
