Indian text book says, “Japan dropped nuclear bombs on United States during World War 2”

School textbooks in India are full of errors that they completely rewrite history, including a history textbook used in some state-run schools in the western Indian state of Gujarat says “Japan dropped a nuclear bomb on the US during World War II” or false claim that “Third-highest Mountain in the world Mt. Kanchanjunga is located in India” .

This Gujarat based publication also wrongly stated that “Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated on October 30, 1948 ” which is really immoral and wrong as Gandhi was in fact killed in January of the same year. The Gujarat’s Standard 8 social science textbook – reportedly used by 50,000 students – was found to contain more than 120 factual, spelling and grammatical mistakes.

Parents of some of the schoolchildren in Gujarat, as well as teachers and principals, are outraged by the poor quality of the books .
