Emergence of Team Work in Globalization [Essay]

Organization has undergone a shift from the individual climb up the corporate ladder to and increasing emphasis on work teams and groups. The shift to work team is largely due to the factors such as globalization, downsizing and need for technological efficiency. As company expands and tasks become more and more complex, more and more relative manpower are needed within organization. These specialists must learn to work together so that colleagues have an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of those whose skills differ from their own.

There are so other reasons for the emergence of work team as well .stiff competition , particularly in construction –driven fields (I am talking to the reference of Qatar), requires team work with concerted efforts to keep the company as a whole on the cutting edge . Because the related tasks have become far too complex for one person to handle alone, many organization create work teams to accomplish collective goals.

There are many challenges that can affect team works for example members of the team can suffer from group thinking ,the belief that every member already knows what the others will propose as solutions . When this happens team can become paralyzed by inaction. But we shouldn’t forget that the team work can strengthen mastery of what one knows already. A team leader, apart from possessing leadership qualities, should be competent and have command over his work. Even though he still needs competent members around him. It’s a whirlpool where everyone is connected with each other. When target is achieved then all members should be rewarded rather than bestowing only one of them.

Many managers and executives view team as the most effective design for involving all employees in the success of a company; they may not be skilled in a group dynamics needed to run teams effectively. this along with the fact many people are initially more comfortable working alone, may cause executive to be skeptical about the value of work teams and hesitant to take the necessary steps to create team. But Every changes comes with bunch of challenges ahead , being an executive they are always ready to handle any expected or unexpected challenges so far. In fact many of them already had stepped up to the team work.

What distinguish a group of people from team i.e. A team has sense of ownership of their work, regards of each other and ability to understand the strength and weaknesses of their team members, working like well drilled army to attain objectives. In a teamwork environment, people understand and believe that thinking, planning, decisions and actions are better when done cooperatively. They recognize, and even assimilate, the belief that “none of us is as good as all of us”.
