January 1 : With exteme cold waves accompained by dense fog, the life in Kailali district has been severly effected. School kids, Childrens as well as labourers are widely affected by this calamitiy.
People are gathering around fires lit in the open at various places to keep the cold at bay. But there is shortage of firewood for this purpose, it is stated.
The farmers are very concerned as their vegetation might be degraded due to the cold wave.
“We cultivated potato with big investment. The plants have started rotting and degrading due to the blight now. This has really discouraged the farmers who are into vegetable cultivation for commercial purpose,” said
Man Bahadur Chaudhary.
Health workers have also informed that the number of people coming to the health institutions seeking treatment suffering from pneumonia, cough and cold and pulmonary cases has increased drastically with the fall in temperature.
Flight services from the Dhangadhi airport have also been affected due to the dense fog .
