Carter arrives in Kathmandu

KATHAMNDU, Nov 17  /Former US President and founder of the Carter Centre Jimmy Carter arrived here Saturday morning on a six-day formal visit to Nepal.
He arrived here from New Delhi leading a high-level delegation for observation of the Constituent Assembly elections to be held on Tuesday at the invitation of the Chairman of the Council of Ministers Khilraj Regmi and Chief Election Commissioner.
He was welcomed at the Tribhuwan International Airport by Deputy Chief of Protocol Hemlal Bhattarai and Carter Centre Director David Hamilton and other senior officers of the centre.
The Carter Center announced on Saturday that former US President Jimmy Carter and former Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand Dr Surakiart Sathirathai will co-lead the Carter Center’s delegation to observe Nepal’s November 19 Constituent Assembly election.
