12 hurt in Makawanpur bus arson

MAKAWANPUR, NOV 16 – Twelve persons were injured when a petrol bomb was hurled at a speeding bus at Makawanpur’s Wasamadi VDC-2 along the East-West Highway on Thursday night. Police were escorting the bus to Kathmandu from Kalaiya when the incident occurred.

The condition of three of those who sustained burn injuries—driver Bhola Prasad Sah, his helper Surendra Chaudhary and passenger Rakesh Yadav—is critical. They are undergoing treatment in Bharatpur Hospital.

The other injured—Krishna Chaudhary, Kaushal Khatun, Umesh Pandit, Sanat Regmi, Uma Regmi, Manju Khanal, Dhan Bahadur Lama, Ram Bahadur Lama and Rakesh Tiwari—are receiving treatment in hospitals in Birgunj and Hetauda.

Meanwhile, unidentified persons torched a jeep being used by UCPN (Maoist) candidate Tilak Sharma at Gulariya-8 in Bardiya on Friday. A group also set a vehicle on fire at Tulasipur-5 in Dang on Friday.
