Rabindra Man Shrestha won the Surya Nepal Gokarna Monthly Medal here at Gokarna Golf Clubon Saturday. Shrestha scored five-under 67 to register marginal victory of one stroke over Pavitra Kumar Karki, who produced a score card of 4-under 68. Ang Tshiring Sherpa scored nine-over 81 gross to win the best gross title. Joseph Nathan and Damien Dunn were tied for third position and Nathan was declared third in the count back.
Total of 32 players took part in the tournament. sponsored by Surya Nepal Pvt. Ltd. President of Gokarna Golf Club, Suhrid Ghimire gave away the prizes to the winners of the tournament. The tournament was played under stroke play format with full handicap.
After the sixth edition, Ang Dendi Sherpa is leading the club championship leader board with 130 points. Sonam Ongdi is second with 112 points. Rabindra Man Shrestha, Tendi Sherpa, Maj Gen (retd) Daman B. Ghale, Brian Fawcett and TG Shrestha are tied at third place with 100 points. Joseph Nathan is tied eighth with 90 points. Damien Dunn lying ninth with 70 points. Aditi Ghimire and Gopal Chitrakar are tied tenth with 64 points.
There will be 10 medal rounds played till the month of October. In each medal round players in the top 10 will receive points. First place earn 100 points, Runner up will receive 60 points and 40 points for third place. 30, 24,20 points for 4th, 5th and 6th place and 16,14,12,10 for 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th places respectively in each medal rounds.
Top 30 players will compete over 2 rounds for the club championship in the month of November and December. Top 3 gross scorers shall also qualify for the final medal rounds.
