200 watts of electricity generated from the water canal in Pokhara

Pokhara, 5 November/The first exhibition of Pico Hydropower Generator of Kappa was held in the Rammandir cantonment in the joint initiative of Nepal  Government, Alternative Energy Promotion Center of population and Environment Ministry , Japan JICA, Pokhara Industry Commerce Association and Evesai.

Kappa is a product of Japanese citizen Norio Kikuji’s innovative discovery. The Oxford-based production kit does not require high dam to produce electricity from this machine made by kikuji. In order to keep the kappa in general  running canal , no efficient technology is required. About  200 watts of energy can be generated  from water  wasted in remote area of Nepal  that can be consumed by local people to charge electric appliances and to light the electric bulb.

‘In 2011, after the earthquake in Japan stopped the power supply, I imagined the power generation of my own needs,’ said Norio Kikuji. ‘This technique is tested here as a necessity for the country facing Nepal’s energy crisis.’He advised that the machine of a built-in dynamics made up of two million rupees would be useful  for the Himalayas of Nepal.

Residential Representative of JICA Jun Sakuma  has said that we aim to improve the living standard of local people of Himilayas with the help of electricity  generated from water wasted in  canal. He said that construction company Evesei has taken the goal of producing electricity at least cost by using Nepali raw material . The cost for construction of this in Nepal  costs about  4 lakhs.

Ratna Bahadur Thapa of Alternative Energy Promotion Center, said that the government of Nepal had made the goal of making Nepal a medium-income country by 2030, but it would be helpful to reduce Nepal’s poverty as it was projected to reach Nepal’s electricity accessibility by 74 %  that time. Chief District Officer of kaski Taranath Adhikari inaugurated  Kappa Hydropower Project of Rammandir.

Speaking at the program, Naruo Katey, counselor of the Japanese embassy in Nepal, hoped that the availability of energy in the rural areas would increase the entrepreneurship.
