Surya Nepal Central Open tees off on Monday at Gokarna

Kathmandu 23rd June –

The third event of the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2012-13, Surya Nepal Central Open will tee off today at Gleneagles Design, Nepal’s master piece Gokarna Golf Club. The event will be played over 72 holes from 24th June and conclude on 27th June. There will be a cut applied after 2 rounds (36 holes). Only top 21 pros and ties will make their journey to the final 36 holes along with the amateurs making the pro cut.

Total of 26 professional golfers will test their skills for total prize money of Rs 514,250 The winner of the event will bag Rs 95000, the runner –up will earn Rs 60000 and the 3rd will get Rs 44000. Top 21 places and ties will earn prize money. 16 Amateurs will their rub shoulders with the professionals in this tournament.

Defending champion and winner of the Surya Nepal Masters 2013, Shivaram Shrestha, last event champion Rabi Khadka along with Umesh Nagarkoti, Ramesh Adhikari will be strong contenders of the event. Members of Surya Nepal NGA Youth Golf Development Program Bikash Bogati, Dinesh Prajapati, Michael Rai and Ashish Pariyar along with Tashi Tsering will be vying for amateur trophy.

All participants had a practice round today, due to heavy rains the last couple of days the course is wet but playing exceptionally well. Rabindra Man Shrestha, president of NPGA said, “We appreciate sponsorship of Surya Nepal in growing the sport professionally, the tour is getting bigger and better. I hope to see some low scores this week and expect some good results from new boys.”
