Team Shiva Ram wins

POKHARA, January 18: /Shiva Ram Shrestha and his team won the Pro-Am title of the Surya Nepal Western open at the par-70 Himalayan Golf Course in Pokhara on Saturday.
The Nepal No 1 pro Shiva Ram teamed up with amateurs Lakshman Pun, Maj LP Gurung and Gajendra Limbu to win the trophy with the total score of 129 points. Shiva Ram scored 33 points, while Lakshman scored 30, LP scored 28 and Gajendra scored 38.
Veteran pro Deepak Thapa Magar (33) and amateurs Tej Rai (26), Sujan Thapa (26) and Buddhi Man Gurung (41) accumulated 126 points to win the runner-up trophy. Likewise, the team of pro Dhana Thapa (29) and amateurs Suhrid Ghimire (35), Prajwal Gurung (25) and Bala Ram Thapa (32) came third with the total score of 121 points.
Buddhi Man Gurung (41) produced the best card of the event to win the best individual award, while Raju Thakali was second with 39 points. Bina Thapa won the women’s section trophy with 29 points. Samir Acharya won the longest drive award, while Purna Bahadur Rai won the closest-to-the-pin award.
Chairman of Annapurna Post Capt. Rameswore Thapa, NGA Vice-President Purna Bahadur Rai and Brand Manager of Surya Nepal Pvt Ltd Keshav Pradhan gave away the prizes to the winners.
On Friday, Shiva Ram defended the title of the Surya Nepal Western open, the sixth event under the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2013-14. Rabi Khadka was second and Sanjay Lama was third in the 14th edition of the tournament that carried the total cash purse of Rs 514,250. The top three pros received Rs 95,000, Rs 60,000 and Rs 44,000.
